Flights to Denver on Northwest Airlines

When you are taking a flight to Denver on Northwest Airlines and arrive at the Denver Airport – which is less than a decade old – you could get tricked into thinking the airport is the destination, not the city. While that would be a mistake, and the Denver Airport is just the start of your Denver vacation, the airport is a very nice place, mostly void of the usual frustrations you meet during travel. And the tents that cover it not only keep snow out, they mimic the appearance of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.
Known as the Mile High City, Denver is quite literally one mile above sea level, 5,280 feet high. Being one of the few older cities in the U.S. that doesn’t rest next to a river, lake, ocean or some other body of water is just one of the things that make travel to Denver a unique experience.
While many may think of skiing when they think of snow-capped mountains, there is much more to do in Denver than ski. Recently, the downtown area has seen a new museum arrive – the Denver Art Museum – that has gained national recognition. You wouldn’t have to visit the museum to see art, however, as each town in and around Denver seems to have their own style, and many have little art shops or boutiques, and plenty of shopping.
Denver also enjoys a lot of success in professional sports, and seeing a game live at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium is an experience. The Denver Broncos call it home, and are one of the consistently most successful home teams in the NFL. Playing a mile above sea level and with a boisterous home crowd can do that. The Colorado Avalanche of the NHL won the Stanley Cup within the last decade, and the Colorado Rockies of MLB are one of baseball’s best up-and-coming teams – making an appearance in the playoffs last year and also with a nice home field advantage; the thin air of Denver makes the baseball fly a little farther.
Speaking of flying a little farther – if that is what it takes to catch a flight to Denver on Northwest Airlines, chances are you won’t regret the time invested to get there.
