NWA Cargo Dangerous Goods Acceptance

Commercially offered Dangerous Goods shipments are accepted on Northwest Airlines Cargo as follows:

  • Carbon Dioxide Solid (UN1845), when used as a refrigerant for non-hazardous materials and the total quantity is equal to or less than 5.5 pounds, will be accepted on all flights. We will accept Dry Ice more than 5.5 lbs with USD 25.00 charge.  The fee will apply to all shipments containing more than 5.5 lbs of dry ice per package, not more than 5.5 lbs for an entire shipment with the special handling code "ICE".  Not all NWA Cargo stations are able to accept more than 5.5 lbs of dry ice.
  • Class 9 (Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods), transported on any of the following routes:
    • Detroit (DTW) nonstop to Amsterdam (AMS), Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA) and London (LGW)
    • Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA) and London (LGW) nonstop to Detroit (DTW) or Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP)
    • Amsterdam (AMS) nonstop to all NWA hubs and gateways
  • All other classes and divisions of dangerous goods, with the exception of Division 2.3 Toxic gas, are allowed via ground transportation or via an NWA freighter aircraft.
  • Delta Air Lines will be marketing several routes utilizing current Northwest Airlines aircraft. The dangerous goods policies and procedures on these routes will be those currently published by Delta Air Lines. Note: Some routes may require ground transportation on a portion of the routing. All dangerous goods shipments require advance arrangements, and all shipments must comply with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
