Traveling with Children
Northwest recognizes that traveling with children can be a rewarding experience for the entire family. In order to help make the travel experience with us as smooth as possible, here are answers to several commonly asked questions for parents traveling with their children:
Yes, all ticketed passengers are required to have a boarding pass to board the plane. A ticket is not required for infants under 2 years of age traveling on the lap of an adult passenger within the 50 U.S. or Canada. Please note that Northwest does reserve the right to ask for proof of age for a child under two years of age.
2. How can we assign seats so our entire family is seated together?
You may request or change seat assignments for a Northwest reservation on nwa.com within 90 days of departure. Access Manage My Reservations here to assign your seats.
You will also have a chance to request seats during the check-in process. To check in with a Northwest E-ticket online, visit the "Check In for Your Flight" box on our homepage within 24 hours of departure.
