Commitment - Ensure good customer service from code-share partners

Northwest Airlines will ensure that domestic code-share partners make a commitment to provide comparable consumer plans and policies.

Northwest has entered into strategic alliances, partnerships and selected marketing affiliations with airlines throughout the world, providing its customers with increased convenience by offering more flight choices with easy connections and the convenience of one-stop shopping for:

  • Booking with code share partners
  • Ticketing
  • Flight check-in procedures
  • Coordinated flight schedule
  • Single luggage check-in
  • Expanded opportunities to earn and redeem miles for free travel in its SkyMiles frequent flyer program and its' partner programs.

In some cases, as with Mesaba Airlines and Pinnacle Airlines, all flights operated by those airlines are flown under the Northwest code. In other instances, major routes are code-shared, such as the entire North Atlantic operations of Northwest and KLM. In still others, a relatively small number of flights may be code-shared, such as with America West. The degree to which a code share partner matches Northwest's customer service plan may vary with the degree to which its system shares Northwest's codes.

Northwest has solicited signed letters of voluntary compliance from its domestic and international partners for the Northwest Customers First service plan. A sample letter is attached as attachment F.

Note: Five of Northwest's code share partners, Alaska, America West, Continental, Delta and Hawaiian are also signatories to the ATA commitment.

Measurement

  • Annually, Northwest Airlines will solicit a letter of compliance from each code share carrier to ensure continued commitment for Northwest's Customers First service plan.
  • Northwest will monitor customer service levels of it's airline partners by tracking customer complaints received by Northwest Customer Relations and through customer service surveys.
