Northwest E-Ticket customers may check in for their flight on nwa.com between 24 hours and 30 minutes* prior to the scheduled departure time. nwa.com check-in is available for worldwide travel including:

  • Flights within, to and from the 50 United States, Canada, Mexico*, Caribbean, Asia** and Europe**
  • Our SkyTeam partners handle check-in for some Northwest flights departing from Europe. Begin check-in on nwa.com and you will be redirected to the appropriate web site to continue check-in.**
  • Flights within and from Europe on KLM*** - Check in here
  • Flights within and from Europe on Air France*** - Check in here
  • Flights operated by Delta Air Lines - Check in here

* Mexico – Flights departing Mexico from Acapulco, Cancun, Cozumel, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas are handled by Delta Air Lines; check-in at the Delta Air Lines ticket counter.
** Asia - Minimum check in time for flight departures from Asia is 3 hours.
** Northwest flights from Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Mumbai will be redirected to klm.com. Northwest flights from Paris will be redirected to airfrance.com.
*** Check-in on nwa.com for all KLM departures from the U.S. to Amsterdam and for Air France departures from Detroit to Paris.

nwa.com check-in can be used to:

  • Check in and print your boarding pass
  • Check in and fax your boarding pass to a designated location
  • Check in only (print documents at the airport Self-service Check in Kiosk)
  • Add/Update your Frequent Flyer number
  • Obtain your WorldPerks Elite complimentary First Class upgrade
  • Change your seats
  • Purchase a Coach Choice seat

Upgrade and Travel Options (available on nwa.com check-in for qualifying itineraries):

  • Purchase an E-First upgrade
  • Purchase a Mileage Upgrade using your WorldPerks miles
  • Change your flight or Standby
  • Select the number of pieces of luggage you will be checking at the airport

After check-in, you can return to nwa.com check-in and:

  • Reprint your boarding documents
  • Fax your boarding documents
  • Change your seats
  • Add/Update your Frequent Flyer Number
  • Standby for an earlier flight

It's this easy...
Step 1:

Select the 'Check-In' tab and then enter your last name, departure city and confirmation number, Frequent Flyer Number, or E-Ticket number. Then click "GO"

Verify your itinerary, change seats, update/change Frequent Flyer number or select Upgrade and Travel Options. When complete, select "Continue Check-In"

Print your boarding pass and proceed to the airport for boarding!*

*In some airports immigration authorities may require you to get your travel documents verified by a Northwest agent at the nwa.com check-in counter before being allowed to proceed to immigration. In such cases, you will still be able to print a Boarding Pass, which will allow expedited travel document verification at the airport.
