Northwest Airlines KidCares^SM

Sometimes a child's health depends on receiving medical treatment far from home.  For many families, transportation costs can seem overwhelming.  That's why we created the KidCares medical travel program in 1999.  With KidCares, donated WorldPerks® miles are used to provide free air travel for a child, accompanied by one adult, to obtain needed medical treatment. If you have a child who requires medical treatment and needs air travel assistance, you will find information on how to request an application below.

Donate to AirCares Partners

The Northwest Airlines KidCares medical travel program provides air travel to children age 18 and younger who are unable to receive treatment in their home area. The KidCares program is fueled by generous mileage donations of Northwest's WorldPerks members, which are then matched by Northwest. Availability of the program is based on that donated WorldPerks mileage, and consideration of each request is based on the following guidelines.  Each application received must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis; we regret that we cannot fulfill all requests.

1. Only one round-trip per family is permitted.
2. A letter from the child's physician must accompany the application, stating: 
   
   • patient's diagnosis
   • confirmation of the need for travel
   • the patient has medical clearance for air travel
   • dates of appointments/surgery; and
   • length of stay
3. The patient must be 18 years old or younger at the time the travel request is made.
4. The medical treatment for which the child is traveling must be unavailable in the child's home location.
5. KidCares travel can only be provided by Northwest Airlines or one of its airline partners.
6. KidCares travel is not available to families with insurance coverage that covers the cost of travel for medical treatment.
7. Families demonstrating financial need are given priority consideration for KidCares travel.
8. One adult may accompany the child on KidCares travel at no additional cost.
9. KidCares travel is not eligible for Northwest Airlines WorldPerks bonus mileage credit.
10. KidCares travel is not provided to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is covered by a separate Northwest Airlines travel program.

Northwest will respond within 2-3 weeks.

To Donate Mileage:
KidCares travel depends on the support of Northwest Airlines and the generous donations by its WorldPerks members. Northwest will match all KidCares mileage donations.
