Changing or Redepostiting SkyMiles® Awards FAQ
Cantabria, Spain
1. Why are the SkyMiles change fees higher via a Northwest Agent vs. nwa.com/asia?
Higher fees are necessary to cover costs that Northwest incurs when manual changes are required by an agent. Northwest has improved self-service options via nwa.com/asia and encourages all customers to take advantage of this option. 2. What if I want to make changes to my award reservation but I do not have access to a computer? If a personal computer is not available, a member may also make changes to a ticket at any self-service device located at airports Northwest serves. A nonrefundable administrative fee will apply. 3. Do the SkyMiles change and redeposit fees apply to airport transactions? Yes. All SkyMiles award ticket fees and rules apply to transactions made at the airport. 4. If I make multiple changes to my ticket during one single transaction, will I be charged for each separate change? The administrative fee is not cumulative. Multiple changes to one ticket within one transaction will only require one fee. For example, if a member requests changes to travel dates and requests expedite delivery, this will only require one non-refundable administrative fee. 5. I would like to upgrade my purchased ticket to First Class using my SkyMiles miles. Will I be charged the US$50 SkyMiles administrative fee to upgrade? The SkyMiles administrative fee is not charged when miles are used to upgrade revenue tickets. However, if a non-refundable ticket that has already been upgraded with miles is changed after it is confirmed, then applicable fees will include the revenue penalty fee plus the SkyMiles administrative fee. 6. Why are the administrative fees calculated per person rather than per account? Administrative fees are charged per person, per ticket to follow the current revenue ticket policy. 7. My co-worker told me that he does not have to pay SkyMiles administrative fees. Do the fees apply to everyone? As a benefit of their Elite status, Northwest will waive SkyMiles administrative fees for Platinum Elite members (excluding government imposed fees and paper tickets fees). 8. If I cancel my reservation is that considered a change? Is there a fee? Reservations that are cancelled are not considered a change, they are considered a cancellation. If you wish to have your mileage redeposited back into your account, you will be required to pay the SkyMiles administrative redeposit fee. 9. Can I change the name on my award ticket? Name changes are not permitted on revenue or award tickets. If prior to the start of your travel, you decide that a different person will be traveling, you will be required to cancel your itinerary, redeposit the miles and book a new travel itinerary for that person. A nonrefundable administrative fee will apply. 10. What is the paper ticket fee for award travel tickets? The paper ticket fee for award travel tickets is $50 USD per person. 11. May I change my return on nwa.com/asia if I have already traveled on the outbound segment? Yes, in most cases you may change your return flight even after you have flown on the outbound flight. You can do this by accessing View/Change Reservations on nwa.com/asia. 12. Can I make changes to my travel itinerary after I've completed my online SkyMiles Award Travel Reservation? You may make changes to your award travel itinerary online, at an airport or city ticket office, or by calling the SkyMiles Service Center. Changes made at a Northwest airport or city office, or through Northwest reservations will require a US$50 SkyMiles administrative fee per person, per ticket. Reduced fee options exist for SkyMiles members to make award ticket changes to E-Tickets on nwa.com/asia. Platinum Elite members are exempt from most fees. |
