E-Certs®, NWA ExtrasSM, Promo Fares and Other Travel Discounts

1. What is an E-Cert?

Northwest Airlines E-Certs, also known as e-certificates, allow customers to search for flights that qualify for valuable discounts on available fares.

Northwest Airlines E-Certs can be conveniently redeemed online. To redeem an e-certificate, locate the Reference code and the Certificate number on the face of the certificate or email. On the search page, click "Yes" in the E-Cert section and select E-Cert from the dropdown list, type the Reference code in the Reference code box. Type the Certificate number in the Certificate number box. Click your desired Search option.

nwa.com Reservations will automatically advise you of the lowest fare whether it requires redemption of the e-certificate or not, allowing you to choose the flights best suited to your needs. As you review the list of fares, you will see the words "E-cert Fare" on flights where the best fare requires redemption of your e-certificate offer. Review the flights carefully; this indicates that at least one segment of your trip qualifies for the e-certificate fare. If there happens to be a lower price in the marketplace without redeeming your e-certificate, you will only see the itinerary price or possibly "Promo Fare" with a star.

Once you have selected the itinerary that best matches your needs, continue your purchase as usual. nwa.com Reservations will note that your e-certificate has been redeemed electronically and will apply the discount.

Use of an electronic certificate does not guarantee availability of promotional fares on all routes. If you choose to use an electronic certificate, you will be required to purchase your qualifying flights immediately. Be sure to read the rules and restrictions for your fares as they differ on an individual basis. E-certificates are not requestable.

As you review the list of fares, you will see a star and the phrase "Promo Fare" on flights where a promotional offer is available. Review the flights carefully; the star with `Promo Fare' next to it indicates that at least one segment of your trip qualifies for the promotional fare.
